Mehmood Ali, popularly known as Mehmood, was an Indian actor, director, and producer best known for playing comic roles. During his career of more than four decades, he worked in over 300 Hindi films. Mehmood was regarded among the best comedians in the Bollywood film industry.
Mehmood also helped out Amitabh in enacting his scene in Bombay to Goa when he felt underconfident. Amitabh and Mehmood continued to share a good bond but there was one instance where Amitabh's actions left Mehmood shocked and heartbroken.
Mehmood Ali was born on 29 September 1932. He was the second of the eight children, and eldest son to Latifunnisa and film and stage actor/dancer Mumtaz Ali, who was a huge star of the 1940s and 1950s cinema in Bombay. Mehmood had an elder sister and six younger siblings.

She also designed the costumes in Pakeezah. On 31 March 1972, Kumari died at the age of 38, from cirrhosis of the liver, which has been associated with her alcoholism.
