He's not to be confused with American actor, producer and director Ron Howard, who started out as Opie on The Andy Griffith Show. The late Trevor Howard (whose films include The Third Man of 1949 and Gandhi in 1983) was the son of a Canadian mother and an underwriter for Lloyd's of London.
Eric Sykes was a British comedian, actor and scriptwriter, who became deaf at an early stage of his career, and who continued acting into his eighties, by which time he was also nearly blind. He was a pioneering British example of how disability need make no difference to success.
Russell Richardson. Howard was originally named Cormack, most likely as a reference to the character of the same name in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, also portrayed by Russell Richardson.
Death. Howard died, aged 74, at his home in Arkley, Barnet on 7 January 1988. The cause of death was hepatic failure and cirrhosis of the liver.
