Samuel Pack Elliott (born August 9, 1944) is an American actor. With a career spanning over five decades of film and television, he is recognized for his deep sonorous voice.
Sam Elliot's natural speaking voice is typical semi-Rural South Western United States. It is totally familiar to people raised in the rural areas of California from just North outside of Los Angeles to the backside of the Sierras to the Western side of the Central Valley.
Elliott was born in Sacramento, California, to parents whose families extend back several generations in Texas; they lend credibility to Sam s very strong and silent personality. He was raised in Oregon, where his father was an official for the Fish and Wildlife Service for the Department of the Interior.
