Ron Moody (born Ronald Moodnick; 8 January 1924 – 11 June 2015) was an English actor, composer, singer and writer. He was best known for his portrayal of Fagin in Oliver!
Fagin is an old man in London who teaches young homeless boys how to be pickpockets and then fences their stolen goods. Although a miser and exploiter, he shows a certain loyalty and solicitude toward the boys. The Artful Dodger is one of Fagin's thieves and, for a time, so is the young Oliver Twist.

He was singing until the end. His agent said Mr Moody, who died in hospital, had been ill for some time. He was born Ronald Moodnick in north London and played the role of the master criminal in the stage version of the musical in the West End and on Broadway before making the film.
