Howie Mandel: The renowned comedian and television host has been an open book about his battle with germaphobia and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Mandel will not touch handrails and terms them his enemy. He also refuses to shake hands, even with friends or family.

Mandel has reported a pivotal childhood experience during a family vacation in Florida that may have caused the manifestation of his mysophobia. During this trip, a sandfly laid its eggs in him, leading to the development of larvae that could be seen moving around just beneath the surface of his skin.

OCD is a mental health disorder where you feel compelled to perform repetitive behaviors as a result of recurring, disruptive thoughts or ideas.
