Are the contestants actors? And in fact, the show is reportedly so real that producers were worried they wouldn't have any couples to follow after the pod portion of the show was finished during the first season.
Though Love Is Blind is certainly staged in that the situations the participants are in are set up in a certain way to provoke certain responses, the things the people in the show say and do aren't scripted.
But rest assured, the contestants on the dating series are still paid a small salary. According to a lawsuit filed by season two contestant Jeremy Hartwell in July 2022, the Netflix show pays Love Is Blind stars $1,000 per week, up to $8,000 for the length of filming the show, per Variety.
Nine Love Is Blind couples across six seasons have said yes at the altar and are still married. There have been fewer marriages in later seasons, with only one couple from each of the last two getting hitched. Two couples from earlier seasons of Love Is Blind have welcomed babies this year.
It's also one of the first shows anywhere to include a large cast of people who are blind or low vision. See's stars, Jason Momoa and four-time Emmy winner Alfre Woodard, aren't blind, but many other members of the cast and crew are. They helped bring this inclusive and authentic world to life, Apple said.
