In the early stages of Parkinson's disease, many people lead an independent and active life. The symptoms and worries about the future can still be hard to cope with, though. But there are various ways to deal with the psychological burden and the restrictions in everyday life.
End-stage Parkinson's disease has a life expectancy of 6–12 months. It manifests with several symptoms beyond the typical motor impairments usually characteristic of the disease. Recognizing these signs is essential for tailoring care to an individual's evolving needs.
What are symptoms of Parkinson's disease?
- Rigidity (stiffness)
- Bradykinesia (slowness of movements)
- Tremors (involuntary or uncontrolled movements of body parts)
