FAQs

British actor Clive Owen is one of a handful of stars who, though he is best known for his art house films, can handle more mainstream films with equal measures of grace and skill.
He is best known to film audiences for his work in Children of Men (2006), Closer (2004) and his breakout part in Croupier (1998). Born in Coventry, in England's West Midlands county, on 3 October 1964, Owen is the fourth of five brothers.
Born at Acton Green, London to a working-class family (his father a staunchly left-wing tram driver), Owen made his first film appearance in 1945, but did not achieve lasting fame until 1973, when he took the co-starring role of William Compo Simmonite in the long-running British sitcom Last of the Summer Wine.
Compo was written out of the series in 2000 following the death of actor Bill Owen the year before. Although Owen had been seriously ill, according to Truly and Clegg, Compo died from a heart attack after catching the sight of Nora Batty in chorus girl clothes.
Owen Wilson is certainly one of the most famous Owens on this list. One of the famous actors named Owen, he made his film debut in 1996's Bottle Rocket which was directed by his frequent collaborator Wes Anderson. Midnight in Paris, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Wedding Crashers are among his other notable roles.
