Among those new faces was Starfox, also known as Eros, who is Thanos' (Josh Brolin) brother. In an interview with Deadline's Crew Call Podcast, Moore stated that director Chloe Zhao insisted Styles be brought on as Starfox and that the move was not stunt casting.
Starfox Is Officially Thanos' Equal (& Opposite). Meanwhile, the Eternals were charged with correcting any excess deviation resulting from this process, essentially safeguarding the larger project from its most extreme results.
Starfox being Thanos' adopted brother also more easily explains the differences in their appearances. While Thanos' purple skin is never really explained in the MCU, it's the result of having Deviant genes in the comics. (Originally, all Titans had purple skin, including Starfox, but that has since been retconned.)
