Susan & Michael Aren't Real People. Tick, Tick... Boom!'s stage musical only features three characters: Jonathan, Susan, and Michael. In the movie, plenty of other characters are introduced to bring Larson's 30th year, workshops of Superbia, Moondance Diner job, and Bohemian lifestyle to the screen.
They were joined by “Rent” original cast members Adam Pascal, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Wilson Jermaine Heredia, and “Hamilton's” Miranda (as a cook) and Schuyler sisters: Renée Elise Goldsberry and Phillipa Soo.
The character Roger, played by Joshua Henry, is loosely inspired by Bart. The song Sunday features cameos from André De Shields, Bebe Neuwirth, Beth Malone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Chita Rivera, Chuck Cooper, Howard McGillin, Joel Grey, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, Phylicia Rashad, and Bernadette Peters.
The three bums in the Sunday brunch number are played by The Original Broadway Cast members from Rent: Adam Pascal, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Wilson Jermaine Heredia. The other patrons are all Broadway legends.
