FAQs
So who is the Tinder Swindler? The so-called Tinder Swindler is Shimon Hayut, a convicted fraudster born in Israel. Hayut used dating apps to meet multiple women, then established lines of credit and loans in their names, ultimately leaving them holding the bills.
Even after the film exposed him as a con, Hayut continued to live a lavish lifestyle while his victims continued to pay off upwards of six-figure debts. Fjellhøy, in particular, claimed she took out $250,000 in loans. Fjellhøy, Sjöholm and Charlotte started a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay these debts off.
The three women featured in Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler have started a GoFundMe to raise back the money they lost to conman Simon Leviev. At the end of the Netflix film, it is said that Simon is living as a free man whilst the women are still paying back the debts they have as a result of meeting him.
Whilst queen Ayleen didn't manage to get all the money back from the Tinder Swindler, she managed to strip him of not only his clothes, but his power. And she tipped off the police when he was getting on a flight – resulting in the authorities finally catching up with him and his crimes.
The simple answer is that Leviev's crimes are too vast — and too complicated — to legally pin down for prosecution.
