FAQs
Legendary comedian Don Rickles voiced Mr. Potato Head since the first Toy Story movie, and he was slated to reprise his role in Toy Story 4. Sadly, Rickles passed away in April 2017, before he could record any lines for the movie, but the team behind Toy Story 4 found a way to make him a part of the movie.
In 1995, Mr. Potato Head was featured in a leading role in the Disney/Pixar animated feature Toy Story, with the voice provided by comedian Don Rickles. Mr. Potato Head later returned in Toy Story's three sequels — Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010) and Toy Story 4 (2019) — with Rickles reprising the role.
In the Toy Story films, Mr. Potato Head's eyes are separate, and have one hole for each eye on the plastic body to place them in (this is true for the shoes as well).
Mr. Potato Head appears once more in the fourth movie, though like many of the other toys, he has a very small role in the ultimate story. He also has very limited dialogue in the film due to the death of Don Rickles in 2017 in which archived/unused dialogues of Rickles were used.
He will return in Toy Story 5, where he will go on a quest to find Woody along with Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Bullseye, Rex, Hamm, Slinky, Mrs.
