Early life. Sheen was born to a Spanish father, Francisco Estévez, and an Irish mother, Mary-Ann Phelan, both of whom were devout members of the Roman Catholic Church. His father worked in a factory as a machine inspector, and his mother was a homemaker.
Sheen was born Carlos Irwin Estévez on September 3, 1965, in New York City, the youngest son of actor Martin Sheen (whose real name is Ramón Estévez) and artist Janet Templeton. His paternal grandparents were emigrants from Galicia (Spain) and Ireland, respectively.
Estevez was born in Staten Island, the eldest child of artist Janet Sheen and actor Martin Sheen (legally Ramón Estévez). His siblings are Ramon Estevez, Charlie Sheen (born Carlos Estévez), and Renée Estevez. Estevez's paternal grandparents were Irish and Spanish immigrants.
Josh leaves his position at the White House to run Santos's presidential campaign, leaving his legislative portfolio to be taken up by Clifford Calley, a move encouraged by Leo after he and later C.J. notice that Clifford's personality and his skills are not unlike Josh.
