A new teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine has sparked joy among fans of the original X-Men film series. Canadian actor Tyler Mane — who played the villainous Sabretooth in the 2000 film X-Men — will reprise his antagonistic character in Shawn Levy's 2024 action comedy.
In the X-Men film series, Sabretooth was portrayed by Tyler Mane in X-Men (2000) and by Liev Schreiber in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), with Mane returning in the MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). In May 2008, Wizard magazine ranked Sabretooth #193 of the 200 best comic book characters of all time.
Tyler Mane reprised his role as Sabretooth in Deadpool & Wolverine, despite Liev Schreiber's more popular portrayal. The decision could have been made to use Mane to align with actors from the original Fox X-Men movies.
Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth was, well, different from Tyler Mane's. Like his comics counterpart, it turned out the movie Sabretooth was named Victor Creed, but the history between Victor and Logan was deepend considerably in Origins.
The first live-action Sabretooth was recast for 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with the reason behind the move only being revealed years later, in 2017, by Mane himself. According to Mane, he was recast due to the second Sabretooth actor, Liev Schreiber, looking closer to Jackman than he did.
