Death. On 1 April 2016, Banerjee was found dead by hanging in her Mumbai apartment at the age of 24. According to the postmortem report the cause of death was asphyxia. However her parents allege she was murdered by her boyfriend, actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh, and passed off as suicide.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday reduced the term of imprisonment of G Siddharth Reddy, accused of abetting the suicide of film actress Pratyusha in 2002, from five to two years. It also directed Siddharth, who is on bail now, to surrender before the Metropolitan Sessions Court of the city within 15 days.
Last month, a Mumbai sessions court rejected the discharge plea of Rahul Raj Singh, who is accused of abetment in actress Pratyusha Banerjee's suicide in 2016.
