Besides showing great zeal in his job, the Flame Hashira was a kind, friendly, and generous character. Sadly, he met his end in the series towards the conclusion of the Mugen Train arc. In the manga, Rengoku died in chapter 66. On the other hand, he passed away in season 2 episode 7 of the anime.
Unfortunately, Rengoku succumbed to Akaza, the Upper Rank Three demon, after initially almost defeating him. While this death is undoubtedly one of Demon Slayer's most tragic, it also happens for some crucial and impactful reasons.
Upper Rank 3: Akaza's Remorse Ended His Life Forever. After his debut in the Mugen Train Arc, Akaza didn't see action again until Demon Slayer's Infinity Castle Arc. Squaring off against Tanjiro and Giyu Tomioka, Akaza proved himself to be genuinely unbeatable.
As silly as it may sound, is there any possibility of Rengoku coming back to life? No chance what so ever. There is no resurrection in Demon Slayer.
The only time he was “trying” was when he tried to get his arm out of Rengoku's abdomen. It may be difficult to swallow but Rengoku was never able to beat Akaza.
