Rango is a parody of Spaghetti Westerns, and its title is a reference to this groundbreaking Spaghetti Western. The chase sequence is a parody of the air raid sequence, complete with a banjo version of Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries.

His name Rango, is possibly inspired by Django, the protagonist from the 1996 film of the same name. Its name came from the description of a Cactus Juice, that says hecho en durango (made in durango in spanish).
Why It Was Cancelled. The team thought it was too early to tell if there would be a sequel to the film. Johnny Depp couldn't return for the second installment to voice Rango as he was busy working on other projects.
