Where do the movies fit in the series? The first movie Fight the Future takes place between The End (1998) and The Beginning (1998), i.e. between seasons 5 and 6. It is especially closely linked with the latter episode. The second movie, The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008), takes place between seasons 9 and 10.
More on that below. The movie takes place in betweeen seasons 5 and 6 and is a necessary component to the story. Also it is not a standalone movie. It would not be very good if you are not watching the series.
You should watch it in the order in which it was intended to be watched. Seasons 1 to 5 then the first movie, then seasons 1 to 9 and the second movie and then, seasons 10 and 11.
