After the show the winners, Mark and Emily, first were on good terms with the previous owners of the homestead, but more recently the previous owner, Duane Ose, is reported to have been demanding the homestead back.

Duane's wife passed away and not long after Duane posted many things to his Facebook account expressing interest in rescinding the offer to the winners. The winners ultimately agreed and returned the home back to Duane.
