Survivor (British series 3), also known as Survivor 2023 or simply Survivor is the first series of the competitive reality television series Survivor on the BBC. The series was filmed in the Summer of 2023 and began airing in October of the same year.
In Survivor, contestants travel to a remote warm-weather location where they fend for themselves and compete in various team-based challenges. Every three days the contestants vote to send one of the losing team's members home. The last person standing wins $1 million.
Instead of 39 days, the game is now played in 26 — a change originally made due to COVID-19. “I remember several people telling me, 'You're gonna kill the franchise,'” he says of reducing the shooting schedule by a third and still delivering the same hours of television. They even gave the network a bit more.
The show generously compensates all contestants, or castaways, who make it to the final tribal council. Typically, each receives around $10,000 for the reunion show. The third-place winner can tack on an additional $85,000 (before taxes), with the second-place adding an extra $100,000.
Launched in Sweden in 1997, variations of Survivor are now produced in over 40 countries, filming in 5 locations, with more than 230 seasons across all territories.
